Hasslefree Survivors: Renato Ramirez - post-apocalyptic Nazi in a pink tutu

Hello all,
A post-apocalyptic Nazi in a pink tutu? How could anyone resist painting that? This scary guy is Renato Ramirez, from Hasslefree. Not sculpted by Kevin White, but Tom Meier and is part of the Legends of Golo range (HFGGL1).
A brilliant sculpt that simply reeks character (his long-johns reeks of something entirely else...) and was a pleasure to paint.

As always, clicks enlarge - although viewer discretion advised.

Hasslefree describe him thusly:
In the dark near future of the zombie apocalypse some people thrive, others go a little crazy, but every now and again someone grows a Hitler moustache and throws on long johns and a tutu and starts shotgunning things!
A crazy little sculpt by the ridiculously talented Tom Meier.

Think I need to touchup his boots...

Meaning of life - Bill Watterson style

Hello people,
Just found this amazing cartoon inspired by a graduation speech given by cartoonist Bill Watterson (of Calvin and Hobbes fame) and drawn by Gavin Thang. Well worth reading, both for the clarity of the message and the well-executed drawings:

Hmmm, better to view it here I guess: http://zenpencils.com/comic/128-bill-watterson-a-cartoonists-advice

Crashed Messerschmitt 109 in my 'backgarden'

Hello folks,
Thought this might be of interest to some of the more historic buffs among you.

Messerschmitt, 109, downed, crashed, denmark, picture

This beautiful Messerschmitt 109 was performing stunts at a local airshow here in Denmark, very close to where I live (see the video below), but was forced to crash land due to engine failure.

This made it possible to get some excellent pictures of a downed Messerschmitt 109:

Link to the video. About four minutes in, you can see the plane land.

Weirdest monster ever - Wendigo by Red Republic Games

Hello all,
in one of the countless miniature related kickstarters, Red Republic Games posted a finished sculpt that may just take the price as the weirdest creation ever.
Allow me to present the Wendigo:

Red Republic games, arena, rex, wendigo

The creature is from their kickstarter "Arena Rex" which incldues some very beautiful sculpts, and to be honest, I would love to paint this "thing".

Really like it when a company thinks completely outside the box!
Here is a shot of the finished sculpt and some of their other fine sculpts:

Games Workshop did it again.. New Centurion Space Marines

Howdy,
Just stumbled across these images. Now, I havn't touched a Space Marine in ages, but would these "Centurion Space Marines" make me change my mind?

Games Workshop, Centurions, Space Marines, New, WTF, ugly,
Giant Canaries to the rescue!

Hell no! Considering the amazing sculpts being produced by so many small, and now not so small comapnies out there, these "Centurions" leave me wondering what the GW-guys are up to? They must receive sculpts from wanna-be-employees that could blow these goofy marines away.

Anyways, just a quick rant after 13 hours in a hot office - pay me no attention.

All the best,
Kasper

Easy Entrails - A 'How To'-Article Using Play-Doh (Clay-Do)

Hello all,
I've had some fun with two of the last walker zombies from the first season of Zombicide.
For some reason there were none of the archetypical 'crawler' type zombies. To remedy this, I chopped the legs of two walkers and, hey presto, crawlers!

Zombicide, zombies, crawlers, walkers, painted, converted, entrails, clay-do

But, what I wanted to share was an easy way to produce great looking entrails that I discovered in the process. Now, you could use green stuff or something similar, but that is expensive and takes time.
Me, I've got kids playing with clay-do all the time and this always leaves tons of the stuff on the floor afterwards. If you shape this into the shape you need, and apply some super glue to its surface, it will dry as rock hard, or harder, than green stuff.

Here is the stuff before paint and blood:

Zombicide, zombies, crawlers, walkers, painted, converted, entrails, clay-do

Zombicide, zombies, crawlers, walkers, painted, converted, entrails, clay-do
And once the glue has dried, by an application of paint and blood it will look very much like entrails. Very easy, cheap, and fun :-).
